Christine Towle and John Lescher wished to help Wakefield High School graduates continue their formal education and they established the Towle-Lescher Fund for Science Education with The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield.
“John and I would like to help support students interested in science, but we understand that the path is difficult and certainly not for everyone. Choose a course of study that you imagine will lead to a career that keeps you happy for 40 or more years.
We both followed our childhood dreams leading to satisfying and rewarding careers in science. John’s degrees were in physics, electrical engineering, and business. Much of his career was in nuclear and space programs. The plants and animals that share our world captured me at a young age, leading to degrees in biology, ecology, and cell biology. I was a research scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital for most of my career. Sciences are unbelievably exciting now, with breakthroughs important to our lives in areas such as medicine, astronomy, technology, and geology hitting the news almost daily.
We extend to recipients our wishes for huge success in your studies, your career, and your life.”
