John’s sister, Janet Robichaud, established this fund in order to commemorate her brother’s life. John Carey was one of six children of William and Mary Carey. John was a lifelong resident of Wakefield. He attended the “Little Red School House” as well as several other Wakefield schools, graduating from Wakefield High School in 1984. He had a great love of music and was an accomplished drummer. He played music regularly with his brother Brian and several friends until his untimely death from Melanoma (skin cancer) in November of 1993 at the age of 27. John was a graduate of Suffolk University and worked for Baker Shoes in the Purchasing and Sales Department. This fund has a preference for students who will study music.
