William F. and Mary R. Hovey Fund

William F. Hovey was a police officer in Wakefield for 33 years. He was a true “officer and a gentleman”, and was extremely proud of being a police officer. He was a “motorcycle copy” and was dearly beloved by the young people of Wakefield whom he always treated with respect. Mrs. Hovey died in June 1993 after a brief illness. Although they had no children of their own, Mr. and Mrs. Hovey were very generous in their provision for Wakefield students.
