Lee Melody Weeks of Lynnfield, a well-known local piano teacher died on July 25, 2005 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Stoneham in 1940 and her family settled in Lynnfield in the early 50s. She was a 1957 graduate of Wakefield High School and earned a teaching degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1961. Lee married Richard (Dick) Weeks in 1962 and taught at the Montrose School until 1963, after which time she devoted her talents to raising her five children and helping her husband manage his hockey schools. In 1975, Lee started teaching piano out of her home to many local children. She was active with the New England Piano Teachers Association and also helped set up a duet club with other piano players in the North Shore and piano recitals in Lynnfield and Reading. Lee had many passions. She was an avid lifetime learner, even going back to college in 1985 to earn a degree in Computer Science from Wentworth Institute. She enjoyed the arts, adventure and travel and organized many memorable trips for her family throughout the United States and abroad. Some of her adventures included riding camels to the Pyramids, sailing on the Nile, flying the Maine coast and biking in the Everglades. She also was a devoted volunteer to a myriad of clubs and organizations including the Lynnfield Library and Lynnfield Center Church.
