John and Dolores Piskadlo Family Fund

The Piskadlo family fund was initiated by Dolores Piskadlo and her family to honor the memory of her husband, and their father, John J. Piskadlo who passed away in 2013.

John J. Piskadlo was born on December 13, 1945 and spent most of his childhood in Lawrence, Massachusetts until briefly moving to Fairlawn, New Jersey. Enlisting in the Navy following graduation, John served during the Vietnam War on the USS Pocono. He worked as a printer for most of his career until joining the First Congregational Church in Stoneham as their Sexton. A member of the Knights of Columbus in Wakefield, he was a Wakefield resident for over 36 years. John was a loving and active parent, always supporting his three sons’ local sporting

organizations and attending every game or event they were in.

Dolores Piskadlo was born on February 22, 1949 in Malden, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Malden High School. In 1977, she and John moved to Wakefield, settling down on Hancock Road and immediately falling in love with the community. She was extremely active in a number of civic organizations across town and held several leadership roles in the PTOs of the Hurd School and the now Galvin Middle School. She worked most of her career in the hotel industry, spending over three decades in various positions at the former Colonial Hilton Hotel and Resort (now the Four Points Sheraton) and later the Hotel Indigo in Newton. She passed in 2018.

John and Dolores were extremely grateful of the TSF Scholarships that benefited their three sons’ pursuit of higher education. John, Kevin, and Ryan were first generation college students and the Piskadlo Family Fund is a meaningful way that the family can contribute to the education of future generations of Wakefield students.
