James W. Jr. and Rosemary B. Collins Scholarship Fund

This fund was established by his family, following Jim’s death in November of 2012. Jim was born September 29, 1939, raised in Melrose, and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School’s class of 1957. He attended Boston College, where he played football and hockey, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968 attending OCS, and U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI. Jim was a Senior Distribution Manager for several years with S.S. Pierce & Co. and later joined the M.B.T.A. as a Quality Control Manager. Jim and Rosemary moved to Wakefield in 1970, where they raised their four sons; Christopher, Matthew, Sean and Jamie. Jim loved to fish and was the former president and treasurer of the Malden Angler Fishing Club of Saugus, the Mystic River Rail Club, and supporter of Wakefield High School Football, Bentley College Football and Grant Printing Softball.
