George Weldon retired from the Wakefield public school system in 1990 after serving the town since 1952. He taught in the Franklin School, becoming the supervising principal there, and eventually moved to the West Side schools. When he retired, he was principal of the West Ward, Doyle and Walton Schools. Mr. Weldon’s sensitivity and caring for children with special needs gave him the recognition of being one of the first administrators in this state to demand better programs and opportunities for children with special needs.
