Company E and the Medical Detachment were units in the 182nd Infantry, Massachusetts National Guard, in Wakefield. Charles DeCecca & John Nutile were members of the unit. Upon the outbreak of World War II, the unit was sent overseas to New Caledonia in the South Pacific. Here it joined two other National Guard Units to become the Americal Division. Both Nutile & DeCecca were killed in action on November 21, 1942. Both of these soldiers were born & raised in Wakefield. They now rest in peace, almost side by side, in the Forest Glade Cemetery.
