Marilyn was born in Teaneck, NJ on October 26, 1951. She lived a life that reflected her love of music, her family, and especially her 21 nieces and nephews. She was particularly close to her sister Laurie Sokol and Laurie’s nine children, all of whom attended Wakefield schools. That is why this fund has been established in Wakefield. Marilyn loved children. She had a wonderful ability to relate to them at their level. She spent a great deal of her time counseling young people regarding their lives, their choices, and their future. Marilyn passed away on February 27, 2006 from complications related to cancer. She is sorely missed by many, and her family hopes her memory will continue to live through this fund and its beneficiaries.
