Rose B. Welford Fund

Fellow employees, relatives, and friends initiated this fund when Rose Welford retired in July 1991 after 27 years as secretary within the Wakefield School Department. She was principal Richard J. Smith’s secretary from 1964-1974, serving the Lincoln, Hurd and West Ward Schools. Following that, she was secretary for the Junior High and Atwell School Principal Stephen F. Maio from 1974-1978, moving with Dr. Maio as his secretary when he became Superintendent of Schools in 1978. Mrs. Welford died in July 1992 after a long battle with cancer.
