Joe Walsh Fund

Friends of Joe Walsh established this fund in memory of their dear friend’s life. Joe was a beloved member of the Wakefield community who died suddenly in May 2006. He was the owner and operator of Joseph E. Walsh Plumbing and Heating Company in Wakefield. Over the years Mr. Walsh devoted much of his time to the youth of Wakefield by being a leader for the Boy Scouts, serving as a Little League coach, a basketball coach and, most recently, a girls’ soccer coach. Since the early 90’s he had coached the Wakefield Girls under 14 and under 18 teams and was known for his “all bark no bite” style of coaching. A sports-only trivia fundraiser was held at the West Side Social Club and all the proceeds from the event went directly to the Joe Walsh Fund. This fund has a preference for a Wakefield student who participated in the girl’s soccer program.
