Geoffrey A. Walter Fund

Geoffrey August Walter was born on October 19, 1990 and died on September 9, 2001 after suffering a heart attack. He had been born with a rare heart defect. He was 40 days short of his 11th birthday. Geoffrey was a happy, healthy, athletic boy. He lived his entire life in Wakefield with his parents, Richard and Jennifer, and his younger brother Matthew. He had attended the Dolbeare School and was just beginning 5th grade at the Galvin Middle School.

Geoffrey had a wide variety of interests. He was an outstanding student, had played piano for four years, and was a natural athlete playing sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey, football, golf and ping-pong. Baseball was his favorite sport. Geoffrey played in the Wakefield Little League starting with T-ball and working his way up to the Majors and even played on the Bay State All Star Team for Wakefield.

The Geoffrey A. Walter Fund has been established to help keep Geoffrey’s memory alive and to help support Wakefield students going to college. Geoffrey was an excellent student who had made plans for himself to attend a Catholic College with a strong baseball program and an excellent history department, where he could pursue his interests.
