Richard S. Muse Jr. was born in Wakefield on August 29, 1914. He grew up in the Crystal Lake Park area of Wakefield. He attended Wakefield Schools, including the Warren and Hamilton Schools. He was a 1932 graduate of Wakefield High School where he was an honor student and a hockey player. Each year, the Council of Clubs gives a trophy in his name to an outstanding WHS hockey player. He married Christine S. Perry in 1935 and they remained married for 60 years until his death in 1996. He moved to Greenwood in 1945. He left seven children and many grandchildren, great-grand children and even great-great grandchildren. He was retired from the Boston Naval Shipyard and the Massachusetts National Guard. Richard was a 50-year member of the West Side Social Club. The Richard S. Muse Jr. Fund will have a preference for students with ties to the West Side Social Club, Greenwood residents and hockey players.
