George R. & Laura B. Jones Fund

This fund was established by George R. Jones to honor his wife’s memory following her death in 1991. A 1931 graduate of Everett High School and later Burdett College, Laura Jones was employed by John Hancock until the end of World War II. She was a former president of both the Greenwood Woman’s Club and the E. E. Boit Home. She was also past president of the Kosmos Club and assisted in the administration of that club’s Rose N. Whitten Student Loan Fund. Mrs. Jones was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving that organization in many different capacities over those years. She was also a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church of Melrose. Mr. Jones died in 2002. He was also an Everett native and graduate of Everett High School. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a retired bookkeeper. He was a life member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge AF&AM and the Eastern Star.
