Mary Hancock Starbard Fund

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a service-oriented organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 21. In 1988, Wakefield Rainbow Assembly #43 celebrated its 50th anniversary serving the youth of the town. Mary Hancock was a member of Wakefield Assembly and led the organization as Worthy Advisor in September 1975. Mary married and went on to train in the medical profession. She became ill and passed away at a young age. In Mary’s memory, the Hancock family established the Mary Hancock Starbard Fund within the Wakefield Rainbow Scholarship Fund. They hoped it would honor Mary and her love of Rainbow and its teachings. Scholarships have been presented to young deserving Wakefield women entering health care professions.
