Yolanda Roberto Ballou Fund

Few scholarships were available during the Great Depression, preventing Ms. Yolanda Ballou from entering college following her 1939 graduation from WHS. She worked at the Beebe Library before realizing her dream at age 37, of being a professional librarian. Working her way through U-Mass Amherst and Simmons College, Ms. Ballou earned her Master’s degree in Library Science in 1956. She has since worked in many libraries including a public library in Wichita Falls, TX; a high school library in West Hartford, CT; Endicott Library in Beverly, MA; and the library at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. Ms. Ballou established a permanent fund because she is a firm believer in the values of financial encouragement to today’s students. She served many years as a Director of TSF.
