Nan Cindy Freeman Humanities Fund

This fund honors a graduate from the WHS Class of 1971. She was tragically killed in Florida in January 1972 while attending college there. She gave her life while trying to help others attain civil rights and has been acclaimed as the first United Farm Workers martyr. A sculpture of Nan was rededicated in a ceremony at the WHS Volpe Library on the 25th anniversary of her death, and some of her writings and belongings are on display there. This fund has a preference for a student pursuing a career in social work.
