In 1957 on the shores of Lake Quannapowitt, Tom J. Driscoll met Ann Germaine (known as Gerry) at the Hills Boat House. They were wed in July of 1960 and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They had a son Tim who graduated from Wakefield High in 1985 and a daughter, Joanne, who graduated in 1988 from Wakefield High School. Tim received a B.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. and a Doctorate Degree in Physics from Brown University. Tim also completed a postdoctoral position at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. Tim lives in Allen, Texas with his wife Sophie, and their children, Thomas, Mackenzie, and Tess. Joanne attended Westfield State College to earn a bachelor’s Degree in Business and then on to Northeastern University for her MBA. Additionally, Joanne also earned her Chartered Financial Analyst designation. She lives in Wakefield with her husband Bob Murphy and their children Emma and Aidan. Joanne also served on the Board of Directors of CSF (now known as TSF of Wakefield).
Gerry was born and brought up in Wakefield along with her seven brothers and sisters. She is the daughter of the late Augustin & Chantal Landry, who also spent the majority of their lives in Wakefield. She went to St. Joseph’s School in Wakefield and Sacred Heart High School in Lawrence, MA. While raising her children in Wakefield, she volunteered at the West Ward and Walton Schools math programs, she taught CCD at St. Joseph’s Church, and was a Camp Fire Girls leader.
Tom passed away in 2020 at the age of 84 years. He was born and brought up in Medford MA. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High in Boston and received a bachelor’s Degree from Stonehill College in 1957. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved in many local charitable organizations. Proud of their Irish heritage, both Gerry and Tom were long-time members of the North Shore Irish Association, where they ran the club’s scholarship program.
Education was always very important to the Driscoll family. When the Driscoll Family Fund was established in 2007, Tom Driscoll, spoke on behalf of his family, and stated, “The Citizen’s Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield has given our family a way to help the young men and women of Wakefield to further advance their education, just as our children received financial help from CSF of Wakefield when they were students.
