Richard B. and Alice E. Dolbeare Fund

This fund was established at the time of Alice Dolbeare’s death, at age 89, in December 1995. Her husband Richard died in 1981, at age 77, having retired as the Treasurer of the Wakefield Item Company. He was also a retired Lt. Colonel in the US Army Reserves. A member of the Wakefield High School Class of 1921, he attended Wentworth Institute. Mr. Dolbeare was serving in the National Guard at the beginning of World War II, during which he served in the South Pacific. He worked for many years at the family-owned Wakefield Item Company. His wife Alice was a member of the WHS Class of 1923 and was an active participant in a number of local organizations, including the Kosmos Club and the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Auxiliary.
