Humphrey J. & Mary R. Corcoran Fund

This fund was established at the 39th Annual Meeting of The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield as an anonymous gift to mark Humphrey’s retirement from The Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors after seventeen years. Humphrey served The Scholarship Foundation as Treasurer and Auditor in the mid 1980’s and then supported the organization quietly behind the scenes as an “unofficial” auditor. During his years of service, TSF grew from a $1,000,000 chapter to a $5,000,000 chapter. His accounting expertise was invaluable as we managed our growing operation. Humphrey was elected to the Dollars for Scholars National Honor Roll at Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America headquarters in St. Peter, Minnesota in November 1993. Upon his retirement from the local chapter, he was named Auditor Emirates. His widow, Mary passed away in 2007. They were married for 56 years and had six children together. Mary was valedictorian of Woburn High School Class of 1936 and graduated from Boston University College of Practical Arts & Letters in 1938. She enjoyed working at MIT, HP Hood and the St. Elizabeth Foundation during her lifetime. Mary took time off to raise her children and was a tireless volunteer for their activities including the St. Joseph’s drill team and color guard. Education was important to the Corcorans.
