A scholarship is being created in Steve’s name to celebrate his retirement from the position of Wakefield Town Administrator after serving 17 years in this role. Steve was born on 4/26/1962 in Malden, MA. His family moved to Wakefield in 1967. Steve and his 3 sisters all attended Wakefield public schools, and Steve was a member of WMHS Class of 1980 (while his father was Wakefield’s Superintendent of Schools). Steve graduated from Georgetown University in 1984 with a degree in International Economics from the School of Foreign Service. He then received a law degree from Suffolk University in 1990. Following seven years working for Salem Five, where he was named a Vice President, Steve began practicing law, opening up his own law office in 1995 in Danvers, relocating to Wakefield a few years later. Steve has been married to his wife, Jean, since 1985. They raised their three sons (Stephen, Justin, and Nicholas) in Wakefield, and Steve enjoyed coaching his boys in basketball and baseball for many years. Steve has always been active in community service. He served on the Greenwood School Council and the Zoning Board of Appeals before winning a seat on the Board of Selectmen which he served on from 1999 until his appointment to Town Administrator in 2008. Steve was inducted into the WMHS Hall of Fame in 2016. Steve has served the Town of Wakefield with unequivocal devotion. His love for his hometown and the connection he has always felt toward this community make this scholarship a fitting way to honor him.
