A Wakefield High School teacher of Mechanical Drawing for 49 years, Mr. Sherman retired in 1974. For 22 years he was also Faculty Manager of Athletics. The technical drawing room at WHS is named in his honor. He was a past treasurer of the Wakefield Auxiliary Firefighters and treasurer of the Wakefield Boosters Club. He served on the Wakefield Recreation Commission and was an active supporter of the YMCA becoming its director after his retirement. In 1970 the WHS yearbook, “The Oracle” was dedicated to him.
