Rosina and Edward Mahoney Fund

This fund was established by Edward Mahoney’s widow, Rosina Roberto Mahoney, in gratitude for the assistance given to their daughters by The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield. Except for Edward, who was raised in Somerville, all of the Mahoneys were natives of Wakefield. Edward settled in Wakefield in 1952 after having served in the Pacific during World War II. He had a lifelong interest in music and, as a result, he accumulated an extensive collection of jazz and swing records, including this favorite, the Stan Kenton Band. His wife, Rosina, a 1943 graduate of Wakefield High School, was employed by the Shawmut bank. She was a member of St. Florence Parish and was an avid bowler. Edward died in 1987 and Rosina died in August of 1995 after battling cancer. This fund has a preference for a student involved in music.
