Nick Mauriello, a physical therapist, treated generations of Wakefield athletes. At the conclusion of the 1983 basketball season, the WHS Warrior squad, winners of both the Division and League titles, presented Nick with a tournament game ball in recognition of his efforts on their behalf. In addition to this support of Wakefield High School athletics, Nick always volunteered his services at the Daily Item Road Race, offering pre-race rubdowns and training advice. Nick was a lifelong Wakefield resident and one of the founders of the Crystal Community Club.
