The Rectors were longtime residents of Wakefield. Mrs. Rector was a beloved Greenwood School teacher. She was a very warm and loving human who helped many neighborhood youngsters make it through college. She was a pioneer in teaching her classes respect for the elderly. She initiated a program where children visited area nursing homes that became a model for the state. She was a great lover of nature, which she shared with her students. Her spring gardens were greatly admired by her fellow Greenwoodites. This fund was started at the time of her death in December 1982. When her husband Joseph died in December 1989, his name was added to the fund. He was a meat cutter and owner of R.R. Rector Co. of Boston, distributor of meats. He was an Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Saugus VFW Post.
