George A. Geier, Jr. and Mary E. (Kulka) Geier Fund

This fund was established to memorialize George Geier and his wife Mary, who were killed in an automobile accident in June, 1972. Their only child, Scott, then two and a half, survived the accident. In 1989 he and his uncle initiated this fund. Mr. Geier was a basketball coach and teacher at Wakefield Junior High School. Following his death, the George Geier Memorial Trophy has been awarded each year to a WHS basketball player demonstrating the qualities George Geier exemplified. Mary Geier, five months pregnant at the time of the accident, was a WHS graduate and was named “Miss Wakefield” in 1968.
