Ernie Donahue died in March 1993 following many years of devoted service as a behind-the-scenes supporter of the Wakefield High School athletic programs. High School basketball and soccer coaches alike described Ernie as an “unselfish and unbelievable supporter” of WHS sports. In honor of his quiet yet effective support of WHS sports, Ernie was the first inductee in the Wakefield High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. This fund has a preference for students who participated in high school basketball.
