Donna and Louis Adam settled in Wakefield shortly after they were married in 1955 and raised their family here. Louis was an ironworker at the GE plant in Lynn for over 29 years while Donna worked as a self employed housekeeper for the elderly. Lou’s true passion was working with children which he did through his association with 735 Inc, a federally sponsored program that helped problem youth, his work as an auxiliary police officer in Wakefield and as a driver’s education instructor at Wakefield High School. In 1972 Donna and Louis bought Mike and Joe’s Pizza, a local restaurant on Princess Street. This provided an opportunity for them to support local youths in need and advocate for the elderly. Over the years, they opened our home to many individuals young and old alike who were in need. All benefited from their unique blend of compassion and tough love.
