Donald V. Shanahan Fund

This fund was established at the time of Mr. Shanahan’s retirement in June 1995. When he retired, Mr. Shanahan had taught in the same school, same room for 39 years teaching 5th and 6th grade at the Dolbeare School. He has requested that graduates of the Dolbeare School receive this scholarship in his name. Don is well known for his incredible interest in history, He taught his students World History as well as American History. He fostered a relationship between his 4th grade class and a 4th grade class in Wakefield, England. He loved mathematics and made it painless and enjoyable for his students. He was a member of the Class of 1948 at WHS and served on its 50th reunion committee.
