Col. James M. Landrigan Fund

This fund was established by the Wakefield High School Class of 1941, to honor a class member and outstanding Wakefield High School athlete (football player) for whom Landrigan Field is named. After starting his college career at Holy Cross, he served in World War II where he was wounded in the battle of Okinawa. After the War, he played professional football for the Baltimore Colts in 1947 and 1948. In 1950 he graduated from Dartmouth College and was recalled into the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving in Korea, he was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and eventually found himself in a third military conflict, this time in Vietnam where he was once again decorated for distinguished service.
