Carolyn O’Keefe Kane Fund

This fund was established in Carolyn’s memory following her death in an automobile accident in December 1992. She left a young son, who was raised by his grandmother, a school department employee who has been very active in helping bring the fund to permanency. While in high school, Carolyn volunteered as a “candy striper”. She played tennis and field hockey and was also a member of the swim team. She had a special love for reading and she also enjoyed skiing. She once saved her two-year-old brother from drowning in a neighbor’s pool. She loved working with special needs children and teaching them to swim. She taught CCD classes at St. Florence’s Church in Wakefield and worked as an instructor with special needs adults. Throughout her life, Carolyn knew the true joy of giving of herself.
