Bob & Carole Curran Fund

This fund was established in 2012 by Bob and Carole Curran.

Carole was born and raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1953. She married Bob in 1954 and raised 4 children. For 10 years she has been on the Board of Directors for the Hartshorne House and is also a volunteer at the Interfaith Food Pantry.

Bob is also a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1950 and attended the Massachusetts Radio & TV School and Northeastern University. He worked at the MIT Lincoln Lab from 1952 until his retirement in 1996.

Bob is an active community participant and has volunteered on the School Committee’s Ad Hoc Committee on guidance programs, has served on the Board of Public Works, and the Council on Aging Board.

An outstanding bowler and golfer, he has coached Little League, YMCA basketball teams and is a certified candlepin bowling instructor and on Saturday mornings instructs youth leagues. Bob has also served as a Director and on the Board of Governors at the Bear Hill Country Club.

At St. Joseph’s Parish, he had taught CCD, served as a lector, been treasurer of St. Vincent de Paul Society, and volunteered at My Brother’s Table in Lynn. In 2008 he was awarded the Bishop Cheverus Medal from Cardinal O’Malley in recognition of his exemplary service to the Church. He is a life member and Past Grand Knight of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus. Since 1996 he has been Chairman of the Council’s Free Throw Competition for children ages 10-14. The MA State Council of Knights of Columbus awarded him the Bishop Minihan Memorial Award for his outstanding contributions.

Bob is a past TSF Director and was the long-time co-chair of the annual TSF Golf Tournament. Bob and his wife Carole are clearly active community volunteers. They also enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
