Bernard J. & Mary G. Riley Fund

Bernard and Mary Riley began this fund together at the end of 1984 and contributed every year in their efforts to make it permanent. Mrs. Riley was a Wakefield teacher for 30 years having taught at the Hurd and Atwell Schools. She loved theatre and played a starring role in “Hotel Alaska” produced by the Teacher’s Association in 1985 for the benefit of TSF. She was a graduate of Regis College. Mr. Riley was a veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific. He worked for the telephone company as an engineer for almost 41 years. He was a member of the Historical Society, the Retired Men’s Club, the Wakefield Drop-In Center and the Rockport Laurel Acres Association. He was a life member of the Quannapowitt Players and co-chairman of their scholarship fund. The Rileys summered in Rockport since 1961. Their goal was to help the children of Wakefield. Mr. Riley died in 1990 and Mrs. Riley died in 2002.
