Harold N. Comins Fund

This was a bequest. Mr. Comins was a mechanical engineer and inventor. He was well known for his handmade cribbage boards, one of which is displayed in the TSF office to remind us of the great Cribbage Board Caper. Mr. Comins donated 1500 cribbage boards that TSF sold by promoting a cribbage tournament in Wakefield Center in July 1967. Two prominent tournament adversaries were then Chief of Police, Merritt Wenzel and then fire chief, William Hurton. The event was televised with Chief Hurton winning the match and a 17-year-old WHS Senior winning the tournament. When he died, Mr. Comins left his house, car, and workshop to TSF. After selling the properties, TSF established this fund in his honor.
