Thomas (Tripp) Canavan III Scholarship Fund

Thomas (Tripp) Canavan III, was born on May 21, 1968 in Hardinsburg, KY. He was the son of Thomas J. Canavan, Jr., originally from Wakefield, and Kay Canavan, both now residents of Oviedo, Florida. He graduated from Western State College of Colorado in 1990. Tripp died May 5, 2011 in Denver, CO of a pulmonary embolism. He was 42.

Tripp was a software test engineer for CSG Systems in Denver. He devoted a significant amount of time doing volunteer work for disabled veterans and others who needed help. In addition, he volunteered his time weekly to help nursing homes’ residents. He also volunteered for the Dumb Animal Friends League of Denver and fostered Dachshunds. Tripp was a HUGE sports fan. The Denver Broncos were always his favorite pro team while Nebraska was always his college team. His basketball team was the NC Tarheels. He loved camping and hiking in the Colorado Mountains.

Tripp had a passion for Christmas, music, and all things Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. This scholarship was started as a result of the generosity of many friends and relatives.
