Ridento “Chubby” Volpe Fund

This fund was established following Mr. Volpe’s sudden death in November 1991. A native of Wakefield, he was a retired mail carrier in Lexington and was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a member of the Security Staff at Camp Curtis Guild. Mr. Volpe was also a veteran of WWII where he served as a member of the Medical Detachment of the 182nd Infantry Regiment of the Americal Division serving in the South Pacific. The Wakefield Armory was renamed the Americal Civic Center in honor of these WWII veterans.
