Joyce E. Brown-Landry Fund

This fund was established in February 1997 by her parents after Joyce died. She was 29 years old. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 6 weeks old, Joyce did her best not to let her chronic illness interfere with her life. At the time of her death, she was awaiting a double lung transplant. She was always upbeat, smiling, and helping others. A member of WHS Class of 1986, Joyce was a majorette and worked summers in the Special Education Office. She studied floriculture at Essex Agricultural School and traveled to California to volunteer at the Tournament of Roses. In June 1992, Joyce married Jesse Landry, and at the time of her death, they were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
