John Robert Swallow Fund

John Swallow, a member of the Wakefield High School Class of 1958, was murdered in New Jersey in 1982 following a senseless robbery which netted the thieves only $175. He was employed as second vice president of the branch liaison department of the prestigious firm of Bache, Halsey, Stuart, Shields, Inc. Active in community affairs in Jersey City; he had been a major force in the transformation of a local, blighted area. He also served as President of the Jersey City Museum. An avid gardener, John’s garden was a local showplace. Prior to his moving from Wakefield, he was active in drama circles and was a member of the Quannapowitt Players. His parents both died in the late 1990’s. The John Robert Swallow Fund has a preference for a student majoring in business.
