Dr. Christine Bridges passed away in 2004 after a long illness. At the time of her death, she was a clinical assistant professor in the MGH Institute’s graduate program in nursing. She was actively involved in developing the nurse educator curriculum at the MGH Institute.
Dr. Bridges was a boundless source of energy and inspiration who worked tirelessly as a Wakefield community activist and dedicated supporter of the Wakefield Public Schools. She served as PTO President of The Little Red Schoolhouse and later at the Walton Elementary School. She served two terms on the Wakefield School Committee and in this role was successful in lowering class sizes and initiating the Celebration of Learning, an annual event co-sponsored by the Wakefield Education Foundation that recognizes the contributions of the students, staff, faculty, and volunteers from the Wakefield Public Schools. Dr. Bridges was instrumental in implementing the elementary health curriculum, and the Wakefield Public Schools Celebrate Wellness program. Dr. Bridges also devoted many hours to the Music Boosters.
“Her greatest accomplishment was being a parent to her five children, Zach, Els, Sam, James and Charles, whom she loved with all her heart.” Because of her children she became active in the Wakefield Public Schools.
