Mary Denise Phillips Fund

This fund honors a WHS Class of 1980 member who was tragically killed in an auto accident in her Junior year. Denise was a Championship bowler involved in VFW, State and World Candlepin Tournaments winning many awards. In 1975 she became a Charter Member of the Candlepin Youth Bowling League Association and designed the League’s logo. She received the President’s Award for three years. She appeared on many televised tournaments. She was also active in the Office Education Association at WHS and even earned a trip to the OEA Convention. She was involved in the WHS Oracle, chorale and senior play. She also worked part time at a local bank. In 1979, Denise wrote “I have really learned a lot in life and hope to succeed in it.” A preference has been given to a student who participated in the OEA or student who is a business major.
