Frederick A. & Marie E. Beyer, Jr. Fund

This fund was established at the time of Fred Beyer’s death late in 1997. He was a graduate of Boston Latin School (1937) and of Northeastern University (1951) and came to Wakefield in 1951. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps and retired as an international auditor for TRW Inc. Fred was a long-time town official, serving as a member of the Wakefield Finance Committee, the Board of Public Works, and the Board of Assessors. He was also an honorary trustee for the Saving Bank, was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge and the Shriner and Aleppo Temple, and served for many years as a Director for TSF. He was also active at the First Parish Congregational Church. His wife Marie passed away in 2008. She was born in Boston in 1915 and attended Girl’s High School and Hickox Secretarial School. Active in town affairs, she gave her energies to the YMCA Women’s Auxiliary, League of Women Voters, as a girl scout leader and to the Kosmos Club as a past president. She was also active in the First Parish Congregational Church. She and Fred were honored as Outstanding Citizens of 1987 by the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce.
