Sabatino “Sam” Benedetto Fund

Sam Benedetto died in 1995 at age 84. He was best known as an outspoken member of Town Meeting. Active in local politics since the early 1930s, he served on the Board of Public Works and the Board of Selectmen, as well as on the town’s cable TV committee. His best-known service to Wakefield was to insist on open meetings. Beginning in the 1950s when he tape-recorded various town board meetings, making the meetings accessible to any interested citizen. This fund has a preference for a student pursuing a career in government.
