A group of prominent Wakefield citizens and members of the 9:29ers Banjo Club raised money to establish this fund following the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963. The late Bill Lee headed the Kennedy Scholarship Committee. Others serving on the committee were its Treasurer Jean C. Hartshorne and TSF Past President Moses M. Frankel.
