S. William “Bill” Elwell Memorial Fund

This fund was established in loving memory of Bill by his family and friends. Bill died unexpectedly on March 9, 2016 at the age of 49. Although Bill had several diverse and satisfying jobs during his lifetime, there was none more rewarding to him than being a father. He was never happier than when he was with his boys, shuttling them to countless hockey, baseball, lacrosse, basketball and football practices, games and tournaments. He was the ultimate cheerleader for both of them, pitching in to help coach youth lacrosse and baseball, and even becoming the team “mom” for one of the boy’s Pop Warner football teams. Bill was a fixture at all their events, and there was barely a sideline where you wouldn’t see Bill in his shorts and loafers, standing intently and faithfully, taking in every moment of a practice or game. He made sure he was always available for his boys, wherever and whenever they needed him. He cherished every second he spent with them and was so very proud of his sons.

The fund has a stated preference for a deserving Wakefield Memorial High School graduate participating in Hockey or Baseball, who exemplifies the best in the classroom, the community, and in the rink or on the field.
